What should you tell us about your roof in Tadworth?
Whether your Tadworth home is towards Walton on the Hill or Preston, show us the approach to the house when you send roof photographs. Your access details help us identify equipment and explain any additional cost before you agree to work.
Pale lichen patches on a clay ridge. Can a hipped slate roof in Tadworth be steam cleaned?
Yes, if the slate is natural: a hipped slate roof in Tadworth can take roof pressure washing, the hot, low-pressure steam method, or the manual scrape. In Tadworth, a listed country house of about 1700 has a hipped slate roof. Ridge and hip tiles are checked on every roof, so the extra hips of a hipped roof are looked at too. Concrete and clay tiles are cleaned by hand, and modern clay tiles can also take roof pressure washing.
Tell us when your house was built and what covers the roof, and send a photograph of the front slope with your quote request.
Could garden trees in Tadworth encourage moss on your roof?
Garden trees could encourage moss on a Tadworth roof, since moss tends to flourish where trees are nearby and a roof stays shady and damp. The townscape around Merland Rise has long suburban roads and a relatively high degree of mature tree cover in gardens, and The Oaks is a newer development that kept its mature trees. Banstead Heath, in the same ward, is described as oak and birch woodland and grassland.
Photograph any slope a garden tree overhangs, with its gutter, and send the pictures when you request a quote.
Which cleaning method suits your roof?
Your roof can be cleaned by Moss Men Surrey using manual moss removal or roof pressure washing (hot, low-pressure steam). The team checks your roof covering, its condition and access before recommending either method.

The results of the work done by Dave and his team on our house in Oxted have been excellent. The roof looks so much cleaner with all evidence of moss nowhere to be seen, and biocide carefully applied to across the whole roof. The way they clean does not damage the structure of the underlying roof felt or alter the positioning of tiles, so we were very pleased to see the cleaning process undertaken with care and concern for our roof and tiles. The guys doing the work were very courteous an took the time to clean up at the end of the process. Would definitely recommend!
