What should you tell us about your roof in Staines?
If your Staines-upon-Thames home is in the conservation area, include any known property-specific requirements when you enquire. Show us the roof section you want cleaned and the available access around it. We can then check the covering and explain the scope and equipment in your written quote.

When does a Staines slate roof suit roof pressure washing?
A Staines roof suits roof pressure washing when it is laid in natural slate, since Moss Men Surrey use the hot, low-pressure steam method only on natural slate and modern clay tiles. The surviving 18th-century buildings along Church Street have gabled or hipped roofs in slate or tile, and the small terraced houses around St Mary's Church have slate or tiled roofs too. Tiled roofs take the manual scrape instead. Artificial slate can look worse after cleaning, and you are told so before any work.
Say whether your roof is slate or tile, and natural or artificial slate if you know, when you ask for a quote.
| Type of home | Share of households |
|---|---|
| Detached | 16.7% |
| Semi-detached | 31.4% |
| Terraced | 19.7% |
| Flat or maisonette | 31.9% |
| Caravan or mobile home | 0.3% |
How do the riverside trees in Staines affect moss on nearby roofs?
Riverside trees in Staines can shade the roofs closest to them, and moss tends to flourish on a roof kept shady and damp. Tree lines follow the rivers, tributaries and channels that run through the old town, and St Mary's churchyard is large and green, with many mature and specimen trees. Beyond it the Lammas recreation ground is tree-lined, and informal trees stand along the Thames in the Memorial Gardens.
If your house backs onto one of these watercourses or tree lines, photograph the slope facing it and send it with your quote request.
Which cleaning method suits your roof?
