What should you tell us about your roof in Godalming?
If your home is around Godalming Navigations, or your garden has a pond, tell us about the water and planting near your roof. Photographs of the gutters and space below them are useful too. Your quote can then cover access, protection and water handling.

How is moss cleared from the clay tile roofs of central Godalming?
Moss is cleared by hand from the clay tile roofs of central Godalming, where most buildings have pitched roofs of clay tile and the view from Frith Hill reads as a clay tiled roofscape. In Crownpits, above the centre, the 19th-century Bargate stone cottages around a triangular green were traditionally roofed in plain clay tile, but a large proportion now carry slate or concrete tiles. Concrete tiles are cleaned by hand too, and natural slate can take either hand removal or roof pressure washing.
Photograph each covering if your roof mixes clay, slate or concrete, and send the pictures with your quote request.
| Type of home | Share of households |
|---|---|
| Detached | 30.2% |
| Semi-detached | 28.2% |
| Terraced | 18.7% |
| Flat or maisonette | 22.8% |
| Caravan or mobile home | 0.1% |
Does the wooded valley of Crownpits keep Godalming roofs damp?
It can, for roofs among its trees: Crownpits sits in a heavily wooded valley with steep sides above Godalming's centre, and moss tends to flourish where nearby trees leave a roof shady and damp. A slope that faces north dries more slowly than one facing south, and leaves falling from overhanging branches lodge on the tiles.
On a wooded slope, photograph the side of your roof facing the trees and its gutters, then send them with your quote request.
Which cleaning method suits your roof?
Your roof can be cleaned by Moss Men Surrey using manual moss removal or roof pressure washing (hot, low-pressure steam). The team checks your roof covering, its condition and access before recommending either method.
| Service | Which roofs it suits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Manual moss removal | Manual moss removal suits concrete tiles, clay tiles and natural slate. The covering and its condition decide whether scraping is right for your roof; product-specific manufacturer advice can rule it out. | From £599. |
| Roof pressure washing | Roof pressure washing suits natural slate and modern clay tiles, once the team has checked the covering, its condition, access and the manufacturer's guidance. | Starts at around £750, depending on the roof; written quote within 24 hours. |
What does manual moss removal include?
With manual moss removal from £599, gutters are cleared, Pureseal Bac Clear Pro is applied and a three-year moss-free guarantee is given.
The biocide is the treatment we apply after removing moss.
Ridge tiles, hip tiles, valleys, verges and gutters are checked on every roof. Ridges are the top joins, hips are the sloping joins, and verges are the roof edges.
If our team damages your roof while cleaning, the repairs are included. Existing defects are considered separately when the team looks at your roof.
Artificial slate can look worse after cleaning. We discuss that risk with you before any work.
We never cold call; we check for nesting birds and bats first and stop if we find them; we check cement slates for asbestos before any work.

Dave and his team did a fantastic job removing the moss from our entire roof. They arrived on time, worked incredibly hard throughout the day, and I was very impressed with their work ethic. They took extra care working around our solar panels, which we really appreciated, and completed the job to a very high standard. They also tidied up thoroughly and left our driveway exactly as they found it. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dave and his team. Thank you again!

Service was amazing from start to finish. Great communication and the lads did an amazing job, even in the extreme heat we have had. They left the place tidier than when they arrived! Would definitely recommend.
