How close must trees be to put moss on a Fetcham roof?
Trees must stand close enough to shade a Fetcham roof and keep it damp before they help moss flourish, so woodland some distance away matters less than a tree beside the house. Norbury Park, with a car park in Fetcham, covers 530 hectares, with ancient woodland, including the ancient yews of Druids Grove. On any house, a slope facing north stays damp longer than one facing south and can attract moss and lichen.
If trees stand close to your house, photograph the north-facing slope and its gutters and send them with your quote request.
Which cleaning method suits your roof?
Your roof can be cleaned by Moss Men Surrey using manual moss removal or roof pressure washing (hot, low-pressure steam). The team checks your roof covering, its condition and access before recommending either method.
| Service | Which roofs it suits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Manual moss removal | Manual moss removal suits concrete tiles, clay tiles and natural slate. The covering and its condition decide whether scraping is right for your roof; product-specific manufacturer advice can rule it out. | From £599. |
| Roof pressure washing | Roof pressure washing suits natural slate and modern clay tiles, once the team has checked the covering, its condition, access and the manufacturer's guidance. | Starts at around £750, depending on the roof; written quote within 24 hours. |
What does manual moss removal include?
Manual moss removal, which starts from £599, sees your gutters cleared and Pureseal Bac Clear Pro sprayed, then a three-year moss-free guarantee.
The biocide is the treatment we apply after removing moss.
Ridge tiles, hip tiles, valleys, verges and gutters are checked on every roof. Ridges are the top joins, hips are the sloping joins, and verges are the roof edges.
If our team damages your roof while cleaning, the repairs are included. Existing defects are considered separately when the team looks at your roof.
Artificial slate can look worse after cleaning. We discuss that risk with you before any work.

Excellent. Came very quickly to quote and didn’t have to wait long for the job to be scheduled. On the day they did a great job of clearing the roof of years of moss. Obv this creates loads of mess all around and they very efficiently cleared it all up including where it had blown onto the neighbour’s. I’d use again and highly recommend.

David and his team did a fantastic job on my moss and algae covered roof. It is now spotless and has rejuvenated the look of the place. The team worked incredibly hard for 3 days in the hot weather, and really went the extra mile when cleaning up to leave the property sparkling. Very happy indeed with the service.

The Moss Men, comprising of David and his team of two arrived punctually and were respectful of our property and surroundings. They worked diligently throughout the day clearing up mess continually as they progressed with the job of clearing moss off of our roof which had been untouched since the house was built in 2000!
The removal of all the moss was successful and we are now waiting for the Biocide treatment used to complete its cycle which can take up to 12 weeks to see the real difference. But the moss has stopped falling off our roof which is just what we wanted!
We were not looking forward to having the job done although it needed to be desperately but the professional way the work was carried out made the whole experience much better than anticipated!!
We would have no hesitation recommending The Moss Men to friends and family!Read Lauri Myers's review on Google
