Roof cleaning in Egham
Moss Men Surrey offers roof cleaning in Egham, with a written quote within 24 hours and a method suited to your roof.
An Egham roof of slate or clay tile would be looked after by Dave, on roofs since 2004, and his sons.
What should you tell us about your roof in Egham?
Egham and Egham Hythe each have a conservation area. Wherever your home is, point out the roof section you want cleaned and tell us about access around the building. If you know of requirements affecting your property, include them with your photographs and address.

Is slate cleaned like clay tile in Egham's town centre?
Not always: natural slate can take the hand scrape or roof pressure washing, but clay tiles take steam only when they are a modern kind, and otherwise the scrape. Slate and clay tiles are the most common roof coverings in Egham's town centre conservation area, from very steep Arts and Crafts roofs to shallower hipped ones, with gables, gabled dormers and tall brick chimneys.
Note which of the two your roof has, or photograph it from the street, when you ask for a quote.
| Type of home | Share of households |
|---|---|
| Detached | 20.0% |
| Semi-detached | 36.6% |
| Terraced | 20.0% |
| Flat or maisonette | 23.1% |
| Caravan or mobile home | 0.3% |
With few street trees, can Egham roofs still get moss?
Yes, because wherever trees leave a roof shady and damp, moss tends to settle, and the town centre's trees stand in private gardens and around the church of St John the Baptist, with very few along the streets. Any leaves those trees drop also tend to lodge on a roof.
If a tree in your garden or a neighbour's overhangs the roof, photograph that slope and send it in with your details.
Which cleaning method suits your roof?
Your roof can be cleaned by Moss Men Surrey using manual moss removal or roof pressure washing (hot, low-pressure steam). The team checks your roof covering, its condition and access before recommending either method.
| Service | Which roofs it suits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Manual moss removal | Manual moss removal suits concrete tiles, clay tiles and natural slate. The covering and its condition decide whether scraping is right for your roof; product-specific manufacturer advice can rule it out. | From £599. |
| Roof pressure washing | Roof pressure washing suits natural slate and modern clay tiles, once the team has checked the covering, its condition, access and the manufacturer's guidance. | Starts at around £750, depending on the roof; written quote within 24 hours. |
What does manual moss removal include?
Priced from £599, manual moss removal gives you a three-year moss-free guarantee as well as gutter clearing and Pureseal Bac Clear Pro.
The biocide is the treatment we apply after removing moss.
Ridge tiles, hip tiles, valleys, verges and gutters are checked on every roof. Ridges are the top joins, hips are the sloping joins, and verges are the roof edges.
If our team damages your roof while cleaning, the repairs are included. Existing defects are considered separately when the team looks at your roof.
Artificial slate can look worse after cleaning. We discuss that risk with you before any work.
We never cold call; we check for nesting birds and bats first and stop if we find them; we check cement slates for asbestos before any work.
