Roof cleaning in Chertsey
Moss Men Surrey offers roof cleaning in Chertsey, with a written quote within 24 hours and a method suited to your roof.
Slate and clay tile are the usual Chertsey coverings, and Dave, cleaning roofs since 2004, would clean either with his sons.
What should you tell us about your roof in Chertsey?
For an older roof in Chertsey's conservation area, send ground-level views of the ridge and roof edges as well as the moss. If you have noticed loose material or a damaged section, point it out. We can discuss those concerns with you before proposing cleaning.

Concrete tiles after the moss came off, close up.
Does steam suit Chertsey's slate and tile roofs?
It suits natural slate, and clay tile only when it is a modern kind, while older clay tile is scraped by hand. Most roofs in the town centre's conservation area are slate or clay tile, at pitches from steep to shallow beside tall brick chimneys, and Guildford Street has many gabled dormers. Newer buildings there generally have pitched tiled roofs.
Tell us whether your roof is slate or tile, and if a dormer or tall chimney breaks up the slope, include a photograph of that part.

How can St Ann's Hill affect moss on Chertsey roofs?
Where the hill's trees stand close to a house, they shade its roof and keep it damp, and moss tends to grow in just such spots. St Ann's Hill, west of the town, is a mainly wooded hilltop park with many mature and veteran trees.
If your house backs onto the hill's woods or sits under a mature tree, photograph the roof slope that faces it before you ask for a quote.
Which cleaning method suits your roof?
Your roof can be cleaned by Moss Men Surrey using manual moss removal or roof pressure washing (hot, low-pressure steam). The team checks your roof covering, its condition and access before recommending either method.
| Service | Which roofs it suits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Manual moss removal | Manual moss removal suits concrete tiles, clay tiles and natural slate. The covering and its condition decide whether scraping is right for your roof; product-specific manufacturer advice can rule it out. | From £599. |
| Roof pressure washing | Roof pressure washing suits natural slate and modern clay tiles, once the team has checked the covering, its condition, access and the manufacturer's guidance. | Starts at around £750, depending on the roof; written quote within 24 hours. |
What does manual moss removal include?
A three-year moss-free guarantee, gutter clearing and Pureseal Bac Clear Pro come with the hand method, priced from £599.
The biocide is the treatment we apply after removing moss.
Ridge tiles, hip tiles, valleys, verges and gutters are checked on every roof. Ridges are the top joins, hips are the sloping joins, and verges are the roof edges.
If our team damages your roof while cleaning, the repairs are included. Existing defects are considered separately when the team looks at your roof.
Artificial slate can look worse after cleaning. We discuss that risk with you before any work.
We never cold call; we check for nesting birds and bats first and stop if we find them; we check cement slates for asbestos before any work.
