What should you tell us about your roof in Cheam?
Cheam Village is a conservation area. If your home is there, include any property-specific requirements you know about when you enquire. Show us older roof details and replacement tiles together so we can check the covering you want cleaned and discuss the proposed finish.

What cleaning do Cheam's handmade tile roofs need?
Moss removal by hand, since the steam method is limited to natural slate and modern clay tiles and handmade tiles fall outside it. Park Lane's white weatherboarded cottages of the 17th to early 19th centuries have steep roofs of handmade tiles, and two houses of the 15th and 16th centuries keep large roofs of old and red tile.
Describe your tiles as handmade or machine-made if you know, or send a close-up photograph with your quote request.
| Type of home | Share of households |
|---|---|
| Detached | 37.0% |
| Semi-detached | 21.8% |
| Terraced | 17.7% |
| Flat or maisonette | 23.5% |
| Caravan or mobile home | 0.0% |
Where in Cheam can trees encourage roof moss?
In Parkside's generous back gardens, which hold many large trees, along Ewell Road with its groups of trees, and on Church Farm Lane, framed by trees on both sides. Trees that close can leave a roof shady and damp, the conditions moss favours, and their dead leaves tend to lodge on the roof's surface.
Should a tree overhang your roof, mark it on a photo of the house and send that with your enquiry.
Which cleaning method suits your roof?
Your roof can be cleaned by Moss Men Surrey using manual moss removal or roof pressure washing (hot, low-pressure steam). The team checks your roof covering, its condition and access before recommending either method.
| Service | Which roofs it suits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Manual moss removal | Manual moss removal suits concrete tiles, clay tiles and natural slate. The covering and its condition decide whether scraping is right for your roof; product-specific manufacturer advice can rule it out. | From £599. |
| Roof pressure washing | Roof pressure washing suits natural slate and modern clay tiles, once the team has checked the covering, its condition, access and the manufacturer's guidance. | Starts at around £750, depending on the roof; written quote within 24 hours. |
What does manual moss removal include?
Gutters cleared, Pureseal Bac Clear Pro applied and a three-year moss-free guarantee: that is manual moss removal from £599.
The biocide is the treatment we apply after removing moss.
Ridge tiles, hip tiles, valleys, verges and gutters are checked on every roof. Ridges are the top joins, hips are the sloping joins, and verges are the roof edges.
If our team damages your roof while cleaning, the repairs are included. Existing defects are considered separately when the team looks at your roof.
Artificial slate can look worse after cleaning. We discuss that risk with you before any work.
We never cold call; we check for nesting birds and bats first and stop if we find them; we check cement slates for asbestos before any work.
